Workplace Safety: Translation from Russia…Hide the Hair

Workplace Safety: Translation from Russia…Hide the Hair

Workplace safety is nothing new.  In fact, the further back in time you look, the worse it was.

For example, take a look at some of these Russian safety posters, circa 1940.  Disclaimer: The one above is one of the only ones suitable for this blog; some of the others are rather gruesome.  But they show the type of safety problems that were faced in a pre-OSHA world.

We’ve come quite a way since then.  It’s hard to image most of the accidents pictured in those posters happening today.  But unfortunately they still do.

Safety posters are giving way to electronic bulletin boards and other internet-related methods, but the basic needs are the same: to continually remind people why they should work safely and how to do it.  A safe workplace is just as important today as it was 70 years ago.
